Sample Some Of Disc - Reassembling the jams

Would love to hear spliced together tracks from volume 3 and 4. The ones you done so far @Phunklord_Siege are awesome!

So for completeness you would need to get the Japanese 4 x CD compilation AND the standalone EU/USA Volume 3? Always been bewildered about the versions of this so this is massively helpful SL!

Yes, that’s right.

…and I only noticed just now, that the same is true about volumes 1 & 2. I will have to do some investigating and report back with a summary.

Sample Some Of Dis, Sample Some Of Dat Vol. 1 vs. CD1 of Ultimate P-funk breaks

Multiple versions of SSODSSOD have been released - some of them are identical in sequencing to CD1 from UPFB. The ones that start with “Blackbyrd Or Michael” are identical. Others are sequenced differently. These ones start with “I Spy Vocals”.

Careful downloading this album on Soulseek. Some people have the files named incorrectly. They are all in the right order, track lengths are correct, but names are off - looks like they didn’t follow the CD liner notes or discogs correctly when entering them.

Summary between the two different versions:

Tracks 1-23 on SSODSSOD are tracks 19-41 on UPFB.
Tracks 24-43 on SSODSSOD are tracks 65-84 on UPFB.
Tracks 44-66 on SSODSSOD are tracks 42-64 on UPFB.
Tracks 67-84 on SSODSSOD are tracks 1-18 on UPFB.
Tracks 85-99 on SSOSSOD are still tracks 85-99 on UPFB.

Sample Some Of Dis, Sample Some Of Dat Vol. 2 vs. CD2 of Ultimate P-funk breaks:

There are only 5 versions of the standalone SSODSSODV2, and only two of them have a complete track list showing. Everything you can find on Soulseek seems to match what Discogs says - starts with Make Me Smile, and ends with Rooster.

There are no differences between that track list and the one shown on CD2 of UPFB.

Summary:

Vol. 1 can be found on CD1, just in a scrambled order
Vol. 2 is the exact same across both
Vol. 3 tracks 1-69 are spread across 1-87 on CD3, while tracks 70-87 are missing
CD4 tracks are unique and only found here.

Haha I appreciate the artist credits. It looks like the link you posted is expired, I must not have grabbed it fast enough. I’m also not particularly versed in the, shall we say… “yo-ho-ho and a bottle of funk” side of the internet.

Really helpful, thank you! I was hoping this wouldn’t be another Live set situation and you had (had!) to own all of them, but just the Japanese box and EU/UK Vol 3 ain’t too bad haha

(should work for everyone)
