Any one here have some 77 or 84 shows that have never been heard before?
We must not let the funk down like this. We have to make these shows public.
I used to have pretty much every circulating bootleg there was. Have lost them all over the years. Hoping to build back the collection.
Hey unclejam, not sure what has never been heard before. But here’s what I know has been circulating:
1977-01-21 Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, CA (about 60 minutes)
1977-12-19 The Summit, Houston, TX (various versions, up to 90 minutes)
1984-04-01 The Summit, Houston, TX (various versions, up to 80 minutes)
1984-07-21 Henry’s Palace, Detroit, MI (almost 80 minutes)
Both of the Houston shows have been found and on video but not sure about the others
Circulating where?
I would say Soulseek or perhaps the torrent sites.
There isn’t much online these days P-Funk bootleg wise, at least not on sites like Traders Den, DIME, Guitars101, torrents…Not sure if there are new places as I haven’t been in that world in years.
I have them on my harddisc and I know other fans/collecters have them, too.
I’d be happy to share, any preferred way? Mega seems quite easy to me.
OK, here we go:

I hope this works, please let me know it not.
Enjoy and funk on!
Is Oakland the full show or the Live: P Funk Earth Tour album?
it’s basically the Live: P Funk Earth Tour album.
Since The Landing (Of The Holy Mothership) and This Is The Way We Funk With You are (obviously) not included, there is no complete fade between Mothership Connection and Swing Down Sweet Chariot. There are some other minor and subtle differences AFAIK that hint to some editing for the official release, but nothing spectacular.
So basically everything up to Give Up The Funk is the Oakland show.
Nice pics! There are two shows (video though) from the Motor Booty Tour in this topic.
Thank you so much! The Madison Square Garden show had to be taped.
9.50$ per ticket!
I watched that Landover one so many times over lockdown. Garry sounds so funky on Cosmic Slop and the backup vocals are beautiful.
One of the few versions I’ve found were you can actually hear his guitar. Damn fine funkin solo that. Always seems to be buried on other live versions of Slop.
Hello - any chance you still have that show of P-Funk at the Oakland Coliseum in 1977. Would absolutely love to see it. I’ve heard so many stories about that performance and an elder in our Oakland community said he appeared on it. Hoping to track it down! Thanks in advance

Enjoy!
Question about this show. This is one of the two shows where the Earth Tour album came from. But the information about which songs are from the 17th and which are from the 21st doesn’t seem to be out there anywhere. Do you know which songs from this show made it onto Earth Tour and which did not?
I can answer this one myself. Turned out it was a lot easier than anticipated. I put all the tracks from the files I downloaded from FFGap’s link into Audacity and put the songs from P-Funk Live Earth Tour next to them and one by one, confirmed that all the songs from this bootleg are from the official live album: all 10 of them. Thumpasorus must come from the show on the 17th, and then of course it’s beefed up with the mothership landing, this is the way, and fantasy is reality.
I know a lot of times live albums are culled from multiple performances spliced together seamlessly. if that was done, I missed it. Every time I placed these songs side by side, I found they synced up to the live album perfectly. When doing this, I look for extra vamping to the crowd that can be found on one and not the other, extra noodling on the keys by Bernie, etc, but could’t find anything. No extended intros or outros to be found, either, so I think that at least the 1977-01-21 bootleg is redundant to anyone with the live album.
edit: and now I see this was already addressed. I should have read the whole thread instead of just the last two posts.
