Welcome Nick. ![]()
Hello! Im Aly I am a real big P-Funk fan! I’ve heard their songs like “Not Just Knee Deep” “Flashlight” and “Mothership Connection” since childhood but I actually realized the funk after listening to the P-funk Earth Tour version of Dr. Frankenstein a couple of years ago. Now I’m writing a psychology thesis about their fans. If you want to participate here is the link! It’s totally anonymous!
I look forward to enjoying P-funk with you all. Yall have GREAT taste btw
Fav songs: Bop Gun, Lets Take It To The Stage, and Mothership Connection (Starchild)

Damned autocorrect…
Funkateers!
I’m Mike, a bass player and lifelong fan of all things funk. My P-Funk journey hit its peak on September 21, 1994, when my band opened for the one and only Bootsy Collins at Lupo’s in Providence, RI, during the Keepin’ Dah Funk Alive Tour. Bootsy even signed my bass that night—talk about a moment etched in funk history!
Music has always been my passion, and that night solidified my connection to the groove. I’m excited to join this community, share stories, and talk about the music that’s kept the funk alive in my life.
Looking forward to connecting with fellow Funkateers—because the funk is forever!

Damn what an awesome experience. Welcome to the forum @LongHairedSucker!
Thank you! Happy to be here. Been roaming the forum for awhile now.
Welcome LHS. You are at the absolute right place.
hey! my name is Jon and I am a new P-Funk fan and this is my first post here! I am 23 years old and I just adore the classic P-Funk sound and old school R&B, Soul, Jazz, Funk, Psychedelic Rock and all that good stuff! I was familiar with some of their songs in middle school like “Flash Light” and “Tear the Roof Off the Sucker” (“Maggot Brain” blew my 13 year old mind). But within the last year I have REALLY gotten into their discography. I am a huge fan of the Funkadelic stuff in particular, the Eddie Hazel stuff is just so nasty I love it. I love pretty much everything Funkadelic put out from 1969 - 1979 (Standing On the Verge and Hardcore Jollies are recent big favorites of mine) but I also love stuff like Mothership Connection, Funkentelechy, Motor-Booty Affair and Gloryhallastoopid. I am super interested in discussion about these albums, as not many people who I know in my real life love the group as much as me and I would love to learn everything I can about Funkadelic. I am also super interested in hearing / reading anything related to the Tales Of Kidd Funkadelic / Hardcore Jollies sessions, as they have been a fixation for me recently lol. So if anyone has any stuff they wanna show me or talk to me about or hell just tell me about regarding any of the stuff I have mentioned, don’t be shy! I am so happy I found a community that loves the group I love as much (and often more!) than I do and I am super appreciative to be apart of it.
Make my funk the P-Funk,
- Jon
Jollies is one my favourites. So much good Eddie stuff on there. Welcome ![]()
Please share any studio recording information of Funkadelic 1968-1973. Want to know more about the recording process.
Thank you
What’s up all! I just joined and I’m always on the lookout for tasty p-funk live shows. If anyone has any recommendations, feel free to share!
Hello all.
I’m Gary and new to the forum (hi Bigg Monty). I’m 53 and have been into PFunk since the late 80s or so. I’m from the Dallas / Fort Worth area in Texas, USA.
First show was around 1993 in Houston and have seen PFunk 10-15 times. Somewhere in that range.
As much as I thought I knew about PFunk, just reading a few threads here made me realize how much there is I’m really clueless about. Looking forward to the interaction and learning more.
My username, Juniefiend, has been my eBay handle since 1998, so that’s where that comes from.
Welcome to the forum @juniefiend!
Welcome! If you are a “Junie fiend”, you must have an extra CD copy of When the City you’d be interested in selling…
Unfortunately I switched from cds back to vinyl before that. So I don’t have a copy either. Also means I don’t know much about any PFunk or otherwise cd only release. Think I might get kicked out of the forum for admitting that.
Hi everyone !
Very happy to discover this amazing place. Funkateer since the late 80s, after being fed by Digital Underground insanely well crafted samples of the P-verse, I had to blow my mind with the original material and could not stop listening to it since then… stuck in the cabin of Uncle Jam.
Help Scottie, help ! I’m tweaking and I can’t beam up !
How bout that Elom. You’re at the right place fo’ sho. Welcome and Happy Thanksgiving!!
Peace and Humpty-ness forever ![]()
Hi every body, happy to join here, in one of the rare place dedicaced to Funkadelic Parliament exclusively.
I discovered the album Maggot Brain when I was a young high school student, in a record store. Never has a guitar sound affected me like that again. I started exploring their entire discography and quickly realized that this group was behind the soundtrack for the NBA Live 96 and 97 games… It was love at first listen. Anyway, I’ve always maintained my connection with p-funk, which is generally very unknown, especially here in Europe, except among music buffs. I’m passionate about that era of the '60s and '70s and the context in which the group was formed. From what I know, Clinton managed to take advantage of his bandmates in a way that’s… questionable, according to some sources. Consequently, I’m mainly interested in the other members, the musicians and singers, composers, etc. I’m looking for as many anecdotes as possible, to better understand the group’s philosophy, their creative approach, influences…
I think i’ve a few pages to read ![]()
So, I look forward to sharing with you. Love.
