Nice little Xmas treat for myself a 12" one sided promo Parlet Ridin High (09:40) just played it not a single pop or crackle well worth the £2 asking price. Just the normal Casablanca 12" sleeve and plays at 331/3 RPM

Nice find. Cold have sworn I had this in the collection. Went looking for it and came up blank. I prefer this mix. Some deep rhythmic instrumentation going on all over this track. I’ve heard some reviewers dub this as disco. Just no.

Only thing Disco are the lyrics ‘Disco high, Disco low’. Not with that bass and those horns. Maybe the handclaps…
Funny thing about Disco: the best of it is so funky it may as well be called funk; and the worst is so far away from funk’s orbit, it may as well be…well, whatever it is it ain’t good.
That was the first Parlet song I heard that really grabbed me. That bass and the synths.
Reminds me of early Prince. His first couple of albums. There’s a few long dance-y jams that remind me of this. They were also lazily dismissed as disco by some reviewer I seem to recall.

This taken with No Rump To Bump is one of the best 2 song album lead offs in PFdom.
This jam smolders with energy and had all kinds of guitars playing in the background, hidden percussion just all sorts of treats for our earhole.
