The B’Nevolent Funk Foundation is a musical collective and non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of Cordell “Boogie” Mosson, the legendary bassist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member of Parliament-Funkadelic.
Key Functions and Initiatives:
Legacy Preservation: Established in 2016 by Mosson’s longtime companion, Donna Snead, along with his children and musician Otis “Que” Hawk, the foundation fulfills Mosson’s wish to support youth through music.
Musical Collective: The group functions as a “supergroup” of P-Funk alumni and collaborators. Their 2022 album, Keepers of the Funk, features contributions from notable artists such as Greg Boyer, Blackbyrd McKnight, Andre Foxxe, and Rico Wade.
Musical Style: The foundation produces “Nex Xzit” style funk, intended to evoke the classic “Mothership” era of Parliament-Funkadelic while incorporating modern drum programming and guest vocalists.
