Talk Box, Vocoders, Weird Voices

I’m wondering about the use of voice-changing devices in P-Funk.

Obviously, there’s the Bootsy-produced Roger/Zapp talk-box-ing.

There’s the weird voices of Sir Nose D’voidoffunk which I always assumed was tape speed-adjusted?

Any others? Any vocoders?

@SyntheticVillains:

Glenn Goins uses a Talk Box through his guitar on “This Situation Called Love” and “Sinderella” by Fuzzy Haskins.

I’ll post if I think of any others. OK, bye.

Bootsy (or someone on the session) is using a vocoder on Shine-o-myte, actually it pops a few times on that whole album.

No tape speed for that effect. Eventide H910 Harmonizer = Sir Nose.

Anyone know what vocal effects they’re using on Some More? What about Moonshine Heather?

Sounds like the vocals are going through a rotating Leslie speaker on both tracks to me.

That Moonshine Heather is ridiculous. The backing vocal sounds like nothing I’ve heard before or since. It almost sounds like an organ is singing.

Right. The rotating leslie speaker is traditionally the speaker through which a Hammond B3 organ is played. The vocals are amplified through that speaker on Moonshine Heather and Some More.
