Nice! Great work on Original P. I need to check that release. I feel that even if it’s tedious at times, it’s still rewarding since you get such a good insight on who’s part of the record and who’s who.

I made some updates to Baby Makers, hope that was fine. Changed the PAN of Paul Hill. Our Paul Hill is this one, there’s lots of pfunk related project under credits (I also updated his info and image).
And then I changed the release date to July 22 since the blog post was posted that day and mentions GC birthday.

There’s also special guidelines about bitrates and quantity for digital releases.

Been thinking about if Baby Makers should be marked as compilation, but I don’t know…

Thank you for figuring out Paul Hill. I checked everyone’s discographies but should have checked appearances.

Good call on the release date too.

I would not call it a compilation, though it did feature 4-5 previously released tracks. It was predominantly new material.

Good call on the quantity, I forgot to change that. As for bitrate, I can only guess what it was. My assumption is it was sent out the way Insurance Man sent it to me.

Cool, let’s skip the compilation-tag. I think our bitrate is correct since that blog post has the same one.

Started Bernie: https://www.discogs.com/Worrells-Open-Operatives-The-Nameless/release/15104659

Although, shortly after adding this, the artist doesn’t have a page anymore. I don’t know if this is something I did wrong, the work of an overzealous corrector, or a glitch.

Yeah I saw that, strange. But now it seems to be back up again!

So I’m clearly no expert at adding digital releases at Discogs, but it appears that it’s only allowed to add one format per entry. I suppose you could just pick the highest one.

Here’s a thread from the discogs forums about it.

I’ve seen it more the way I do it, than the way the people in this thread are advocating for. I agree one way to do it would be to select the highest format. I don’t care a heck of a lot - the point to get across is that it was only released digitally and not physically - I’d like there to be a trail, too, so a collector can find out how to get these tracks when they discover them on discogs.

I’ll be honest, I’m much more concerned with making sure we record that a release existed, than I am about the minutiae about what formats it was in. The people in that thread come off as pretty pedantic.

Two more quick ones for Bernie:

I’ve realized that I really don’t know how to classify Bernie’s 2010s recordings. It’s like he’s his own genre. They are quintesentially Bernie, and to me, they’re always P-funk in origin so I’ll always include that. But since they really sound nothing like Parliament and Funkadelic I’m always inclined to include at least one more genre that indicates what direction he is veering off into. I picked cool jazz this time - no idea if that is the best thing to choose or not.

Just one album and one mini-album left for him.

Junie shouldn’t take me TOO long tomorrow, lots of single tracks in there.
