MoFi Mothership Connection 2 LP 45 cut

Looks like we might be eating good in the next few months/years when it comes to AAA p-funk vinyl! Here’s hoping they do more Casablanca Parliament albums.

P-Funk on MoFi! Cool.

Didn’t know MoFi still released stuff after all that triple A controversy a couple of years ago, but apparently they do :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:. Seems like they have a little more info nowadays, on their site they say “analog master to DSD 256 to analog console”.

Guess I skimmed the details a little too fast  Regardless, a nice audiophile pressing of the original master will be great to have. I got an old original copy that has probably been played hundreds of times so it will be nice to give that one a rest for a while. I have heard good things about their pressings even if there is a digital step. I recall reading about that controversy but didn’t put it together that it was the same label.

I’m really excited about these quality reissues that’s getting released. Will be interesting to compare them with the originals.

Just finished the first listen and I’m impressed. I need to give my OG copy a listen since it’s been probably 2 months but from what I recall there is more separation of the instruments which made some things pop out to me that I hadn’t noticed before with my 100s of previous listens on vinyl and cd. The horns in Handcuffs really stuck out and in a way they hadn’t for me before. Bernie really pops out on Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication. Bootsy’s bass just sounds fantastic all over it. Excited to give it some more spins this weekend! Excellent sound all around. I imagine if it was AAA it could sound even warmer but I really can’t complain on the sound. Vinyl was spotless as well which can be a rarity with new records these days. A CD release would be nice for those who stick to that format.

Also based on this the tapes seem to be in great shape. I was kind of worried that Parliament always got passed up on good reissues because the tapes were mangled or something.

Dang, now I might need to save up for the JB! I didn’t realize they did that one. Every copy I’ve ever seen is in rough shape.

I’ve listened to it probably about 5 or 6 times now and I gotta say, this is the best I’ve ever heard the album sound. I was blaring it on the first listen and now that I’ve tried some other volumes it’s like it sounds better every time. If they did the rest of the Casablanca catalog I would be very happy and quite a few dollars poorer.

Awesome! Mine is still on it’s way. Last I checked it was in Paris (Charles de Gaulle).

I asked MoFi how many copies they made, since it’s numbered and all. They said that they pressed 2000 copies and were planing on pressing more very soon. So it’s not limited . But I think that’s a good thing, it means more people can get it. And also, if they sell a lot of copies, there’s a bigger chance that they’ll make other pfunk titles.
