Kim Burrell’s connection to P-Funk

Yes. That would be Gospel singer Miss Kim Burrell. You can also hear her singing with Stevie Wonder on a song called “if your love cannot be moved”. And “mathematics of love” with the “P”.(slow version) on Funkadelics “shake the gate”.

Yeah she’s on both Shake the Gate and Gangsters of Love. GC talked about her on the Mathematics episode of the Bump by Bump Rundown.

I do prefer the fast version of that song you mentioned, “Mathematics” (from The Awesome Power of a Fully Operational Mothership). Thanks for your facts.

A gospel singer would be a valid choice to deliver that part of the concert, too, with its spiritual overtones about the ship arriving! Hope everyone gets some rest from the gig .

No doubt. Thanx. Fast version was with someone we all miss. Miss Belita Woods. (rip). She also sang with Brainstorm. That’s her on the amazing ballad “this must be heaven”. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Speaking of Mathematics, one of the great PF rumors is there is a Michael Jackson version of the song as well and that it was written with him specifically in mind to sing it. He would kill it too, the vocals got a perfect cadence for him.

Do you know about the Trey Lewd version?
