Walking down easy street, running down easy street, going down easy street, every time we meet!
Nice look Tim. I am from Trenton NJ, and I haven’t made it to Plainfied to see that myself. And that is why you are the “groove maneuver”!!!
Jersey’s in the building! I grew up in Asbury Park, NJ. Ever funkin’…![]()

I’m pretty sure that I made to the exact corner that George was when I took these pics. An amazing feeling for sure.
That’s so awesome the city did that. I’d read something about a mural, too, PFunk was going to figure into, to be done at the Plainfield train station… did that come about?
LOVE your shirt, too—he’s this guitarist’s all-time favorite (at least top few… it’s a ever-shifting list encompassing many genres, but something about Eddie’s flow, note choice, and passion keeps him up there for me personally… I’m working on my own Eddie Hazel shirt project, (the pic I love the most doesn’t seem to have been used for any garments, so…. going to have to DIY/make my own!)
There has been bad flooding in Plainfield recently. I hope all are well on PF Way.
I didn’t see any P-Funk mural at the Plainfield train station. I went there immediately after taking those pictures.
Tim,
It wasn’t actually a P-Funk mural – I’d read it was a mural that the band would be a part of. Memory is hazy on it, so I went looking again for it just now; this isn’t the specific article I was referring to, but I’m pretty sure it’s the work that was meant in whatever I’d read: it’s of prominent figures past and present, of Plainfield: https://www.tapinto.net/towns/plainfield/sections/arts-and-entertainment/articles/plainfield-s-newest-mural-a-testament-to-the-best-of-plainfield
(to make this more confusing though is the fact that what I’d originally read had said the mural was planned “at the station,” but this piece instead says “NEAR the station”. And, in fact, being at Gavett and North, it looks like that would place it on the side of a brick building across the street from the train station.
However…its more complicated than that, b/c the painting unveiled in the photo last summer was only a small-scale version that was later moved to another site, according to the artile. It goes on to say “A larger version, double the size of the original, will now be painted at Gavett Place and North Avenue.” It could well be that this (true) mural hasn’t been completed yet; the most recent date available in Google Street View is December 2024, and it still shows bare brick there (it does clearly still show the framework that held the smaller/portable mural painting shown in the June 2024 pic)…no way to tell though if the large version has been begun yet (did you see happen to see the side of the building in question, Tim?
)
And if anyone digs further on this, they’ll discover that the painter, Alonzo Adams, has already painted a second Plainfield mural, which was also unveiled in a ceremony in a smaller version…this made it hard at first to know what was where; when I first found that article, I initially thought that by “second mural,” it meant the large/final/permanent version of the one in the June 2024 pic…but it’s not, it’s a completely other painting, also of Plainfield figures.
Thanx for enlightening us Tim. That’s just why your “that dude”, way back from the original P Funk Board Room. We had lots of fun back then!!!
