High in my Hello lyrics

George Clinton - High In My Hello - YouTube
What is Stingray singing after George says “and nobody’s shaking their rump”? Is he saying:
“Gotta be into me”
“Must be into me”
“Must be in it to me”
“Doesn’t mean shit to me”
“That’ll be it to me”
“Does it fit to me?”
Genius says “vaseline victory” but that sounds way too much of a stretch

Yeah, I was surprised when I learned it was “Vaseline Victory”, but there are a number of P-Funk songs that use the phrase. In fact, there’s a song by Treylewd called Victory Vaseline on the album Return of the Clone Ranger album. Also, I recently realized that the CD does come with a lyrics sheet, which is not 100% accurate (for example, it has the “twisting” opening on Kickback), but can help clear up some lyrics when used carefully. I think Genius’s lyrics is based on the lyrics sheet, because it has “Vaseline Victory”.

There’s also a demo (3:36) out there for this song. The only notable difference lyrically is the woman’s part at the beginning, in place of the “dry” and “bye” lines: “Once upon a meeting I decided how to greet you. Extended my hand out and my heart stretched out to reach you.”

And as an unrelated note, “slippin’ and slidin’” reminds me of Doing It In The Mud vocal clip, Oil Spill, Oil Spill (1999), Leakin’ and Blood’s Thicker Than Mud theme song for The Sibs sitcom.

Anyways, the only thing that confuses me is who are supposed to be speaking? Especially at the end, when the song is fading out, where I think someone says, “One somebody choose all the news. He who has the perspective. He is me.”

High In My Hello lyrics

Ain’t a day go by that the cry of another mother
Increase the volume and sound
The volume and mass, of tears
Drowning and drowning out the highlights in our low
The sound of fear

Like anything greasy will have you slippin’ and slidin’
Like anything sleazy will have you peepin’ and hidin’
When I saw you at the party I slid over to you right away (Whoa-oh)
Before the fella could slip a line in I had you out to my place

Only you can hear the high in my hello (Hello)
You can hear the high in my hello (Oh-whoa)
Only you can hear the high in my hello (Oh-ah, hello)
You can hear the high in my hello

Oh dry, bye, bye-em, bye, go bye
Every shot a scream another one die
When I saw you at the party I slid over to you right away
(When I saw you at the party)
Before the fellas [could slip] a line in [it was slippin’ out] to [yours and] my place
(Hey, ooh)

Only you can hear the high in my hello (Hello hello)
Only you can hear the high in my hello (Mm, my, my, my, my hello)
Only you can hear the high in my hello (Hello)
Only you can hear the high in my hello (Hello hello)

Do you promise the funk, promise to keep its, promise you’ll keep the funk
Do you promise the funk, promise to keep its, promise you’ll keep the funk (Ho)
Do you promise the funk, promise to keep its, promise you’ll keep the funk
Do you promise the funk, promise to keep its promise, you’ll keep the funk
(I love you)

Only you can hear the high in my hello (Hello)
(You can hear it in my [birthday])
Only you can hear the high in my hello (I ain’t no preacher or teacher but hello)
(Hey, oh)
Only you can hear the high in my hello (Yo-ho)
(You can hear it in my hello)
Only you can hear the high in my hello
(Alright, right on, ya hear me)
Only you

Huh wait a minute
Awh what’s this I hear
Your funk is a fake
You’ve been letting the icin’
Get in the way of your cake

What’s this I hear
Y’all been fakin’ the funk
A perpetrating a groove
Nobody shaking a rump

Vaseline Victory
Vaseline Victory
Vaseline Victory

Only you can hear the high in my hello (Hello)
Only you can hear the high in my hello (Hello hello)
Only you can hear the high in my hello
Only you can hear the high in my hello (Oh)

So it’s said, he who has the gold makes the rules
He who has the perspective, choose the news
(Only you can hear the high in my hello)
Genocide in prime time, whose point of view
And all the news, and all the networks, works, against you
One perspective, for an entire media, is living as one
Who’s the controller

Only you can hear the high in my hello
He who has the perspective, choose the news
Genocide in prime time, whose point of view
He who chooses the news, that the network use to describe
Prime time genocide

Hello
Only you can hear the high in my hello
Hello

Yeah, that’s right, one somebody,
One somebody choose all the news
He who has the perspective
He is me

I was almost convinced it was “must be a mystery” but thanks for clearing it up. I’m not sure how many more P-funk songs use “vaseline victory” though
I imagine the character who claims to be “choosing all the news” and who “has the perspective” is either a variant of Sir Nose and his cohorts, or more likely George himself stepping up to reveal the truth by taking back control of the news. Or even more precisely, he who has all the gold.

I should have said a very few P-Funk songs or non-P-Funk collaborations. For example of a P-Funk song, George does say it at 4:09 of Oil Jones.

I think I came across Vaseline victory on the cd lyric sheet. I never knew what they meant by it though.

Prolly a funky innuendo haha
