It sounds to me that Benny (Freddy?) and Billy are other men she’s also seeing (maybe?), and they aren’t important since the interaction is more about her telling Joe off. Also, I guess Joe could be the judge if and only if “every week” is supposed to be related to “only Friday”. It could be that they are two of a number of people the song is cycling through.

There’s too much going on for me to attempt an explanation of what’s happening, but I can mention some songs that come to mind:

• Can’t Get Over Losing You has the line “shut your garbage mouth woman” near the beginning
• Cholly is mentioned by the starving woman
• I’ll Be With You contains lyrics like “Funk Motors” and “all the workers are like me” which make me think of the union

Great stuff. So much going on in that song - ‘shut your garbage mouth woman’… god help me, but that always makes me laugh when I hear Junie sing that. A guilty, embarrassed kind of laugh.

Here is some fun(k) for you. Pull out Bootsy Live in Louisville. Go to the 9:40 mark of the whole recording just after he’s kicked into Pinocchio Theory. As he gets into a call and response with the audience you can hear The Rubber Band banging out the outro of Deep from MBA.

Yep indeedy, I hear it. Seeing that Bootsy was a contributor on Deep, it’s possible that groove came from something Bootsy (and the Rubber Band) did in the studio which Junie subsequently added to. Or maybe Razor picked that up from Deep (which had been recorded by this time). I’m sure it’s not coincidence.

Also if you listen very closely, the guitar track on “Bootzilla” is almost exactly the same as the “Deep” intro line.
It’s very low in the mix and the track is super dense and busy but it’s definitely there if you focus hard!
It definitely seems like a Bootsy (and/or Catfish!) riff that he loved and used in a variety of things, I even hear it in live versions of “Psychoticbumpschool” as well.
