Hi all. This is a jam for sure. Especially a part where they sing something about “you ain’t Mary?”
“And when they ask you to keep on [churning]. You ain’t [merry]. [Merry]”?
I’ve mentioned before that I’d love to have an official book of correct P-Funk song lyrics. But if a book isn’t possible, an official website that shows the correct song lyrics.
Great song one of my favorites. The best song on the album. I think the whole song he was taking a swipe at Prince before they squashed it
Now that is an interesting perspective on it. I’m interested in what makes you say that?
He definitely gave a Prince tribute later in the album with I Want Your Daughter.
A lot of stuff goes on behind the scenes the public doesn’t know about. When Prince got signed in 1977 George and Bootsy were at their peak and encouraged Prince because he was new and on the same label. When P. Funk fell off they might have reached out to Prince and he might have slighted them I’m speculating. Warner execs told George and Bootsy to sound like Prince to sell records. That’s when George made the song Copy Cat in 1983.
