Hey y’all
Just looking for opinions about what would be the best filmed concert to show to someone who’s never been to a P-Funk show. My wife digs the music, but never attended a show (and most likely never will have the opportunity), and I would like to show her a show that really captures the extravaganza of those shows I was lucky enough to attend in the 90s and 00s.
She really digs Bootsy, but I guess a George Clinton/P-Funk All Stars show would be better to get the full experience.
I’m asking because I only saw the classic 70s Mothership DVD and the Montreux one, and that was ages ago, and none really compared to what I saw live (though Montreux was probably closer), but IDK, I don’t remember much of those TBH. And there may be better films doing the rounds on YT.
Thanks for your opinions

Great question! I would go with something with good video quality, something that’s pro shot.
My first thought was that Mothership Connection DVD. It’s just so classic. But if we’re talking about the 90s/00s, I think I would go for the Woodstock 99 show.

Yeah, I’d start a newbie with Mothership Connection Live 1976, followed by either the 1985 Rockpalast show in Germany or the 1978 Passaic, New Jersey show that was filmed in B&W. Clips of both can be found on Youtube.

The Brides show from back in the day. I’m amazed at how good that gig is.
Not to be contrary for the sake of it, but that show blew my mind when I saw it on YouTube.
Maybe pick one from each incarnation? A pfunk. A pfunk all stars. A Brides. A Rubberband…and so on.

I would personally love that. Like a live p marathon. But for a beginner.. I don’t know.

You really have to see that holy Mothership land and hear Glen, first off. That is indubitably the place to start. Has to be.
After that though, the Brides and their band more than hold their own against other Pfunk shows - imo, of course
They really socked it to me.
I finally got a very inexpensive cd of the Howard theatre show through the post this morning so I am buzzing.
