I’m wondering about the use of voice-changing devices in P-Funk. Obviously, there’s the Bootsy-produced Roger/Zapp talk-box-ing. There’s the weird voices of Sir Nose D’voidoffunk which I always assumed was tape speed-adjusted? Any others? Any vocoders? ---

Bootsy (or someone on the session) is using a vocoder on Shine-o-myte, actually it pops a few times on that whole album. ---

That Moonshine Heather is ridiculous. The backing vocal sounds like nothing I’ve heard before or since. It almost sounds like an organ is singing. ---

Right. The rotating leslie speaker is traditionally the speaker through which a Hammond B3 organ is played. The vocals are amplified through that speaker on Moonshine Heather and Some More.
