This record has some seriously funky energy flowing all through it. Its blowing me out. It’s better than his last record and hits me more like a Worldwide Funk part 2.
Thanks for the heads up! I downloaded it tonight to get a listen and I’m happy to see I can now order a CD.
Did you open it? I usually remove the shrink wrap as soon as possible (but sometimes keep the hype sticker). The inside of the gatefold looks pretty nice.
Nah, I still got World Wide Funk in the wrap too. Been listening to the digital version but want the liner notes now. I don’t know why I do this. This album is on another sonic level.
Do you want the liner notes to World Wide Funk or Album Of The Year?
Both if you’ve got em but especially Album of the Year. Man this is Bootsy’s best work in years.
I’m away right now, but will be back next week. I’ll post them then.
On Tidal there’s a little animation on the album cover, where the mothership flies in and Zapps the theatre before flying away.
I love silly little things like that.
I may have mentioned previously - forgive me - but Myra Washington’s vocals are . Especially the title track.
This might actually be the album of the year. At least I can’t think of anything better at the moment.
I had a quick check: I don’t know who any of the bands/people the internet has suggested are, so unless there’s a Parliament/Funkadelic album nigh, I’m gonna nail my colours to the mast.
Checked Spotify, it got the animation as well.
Pretty solid release. Love Fred on the JB’s Tribute track. But I would’ve put the image from the inside of the gatefold on the cover.
I really like that I Am Ai track . Actually, I wish Tobe ‘Tobotius’ and Bootsy would make an album together (where Tobe isn’t just the engineer).
@OooBooBeeDoop. There’s not a lot of liner notes, just some thank yous and credits. But here’s some pictures anyways. I noticed that there’s no writing or publishing credits. I don’t care that much about that stuff, but it’s a bit unusual.
I also noted that the label is almost the same as that Boot-Legged-Bootsy cd from 2008.
Ah man you’re the greatest!!
