# New boot, old show - Denver 1976

There’s a new boot that supposedly will get released in late March/early April (_edit: it got released at the same time I posted this 😁_). I believe it’s the [Rocky Mountain Shakedown show](https://www.discogs.com/master/602780-Funkadelic-Rocky-Mountain-Shakedown).
**Parliament Funkadelic Denver 1976**

It’s from the _Timeline_ label and it got a lot of similarities with [the _Rox Vox_ releases](https://pfunkforums.com/t/parliament-funkadelic-detroit-1977-cd/64) (besides that both labels are from Italy, or perhaps Cyprus). You can compare with these images from _Rox Vox_.
It’s listed on [Juno Records](https://www.juno.co.uk/products/parliament-funkadelic-denver-1976/868221-01/) and the show is also up on youtube. I wonder if this release is riped from youtube..

This is one of my faves from that tour. Such a raw performance. Real funky. I hipped a friend of mine who is not too enthused about the current lineup to this gig. His response…now that’s THE FUNK.

This show is often accredited to be from November 1976, however, the true date of this gig is February 5, 1977.
Here’s the proof:
At 3:44 in “Mothership Connection,” George says, “If you believe in the Rubber Band, raise your hand. If you believe in **Santana** , raise your hand.”
So you need to look for gigs where P-Funk and Santana overlap, and Santana was touring Europe in November of 1976. They had appeared in Denver, CO on July 18, 1976, but P-Funk wasn’t at this gig.

Yep. And the correct date is also mentioned in Tim Kinley’s write-up from 2018.
